There have been strange scuffle marks appearng in the soil in this flower bed. I wonder what is coming to my garden in the night, and what it is searching for?

I treated myself to a trail camera and after a couple of trial runs where I  got 370 images of branches moving in the wind and a couple of me in dressing gown and wellies searching for my garage key which I thought I might have dropped on the way back from the garage I got these.

You're caught in the ct Smudge, but what are you looking for?

New year, new beginnings

My poor garden went through a traumatic change last summer, the council in their wisdom decided to rip out my hedges and replace with this lovely fencing😒,right in the middle of the nesting season even though they were told in good time there were nests in the hedge. So now is the time to start documenting it's recovery.
This afternoon was the first time this year I have been able to spend any time out there and I lit the chimnea which to be honest I hadn't had the nerve to light before the hedges had been removed in case they caught fire, and spent the time burning a bag of trash pruned a year or so ago.

The birds have lost most of their nesting places, but a few enterprising sparrows built new nests in the dead ivy on the house walls, 2 at the front and 2 at the back. It will be interesting to see how many baby birds I have in the garden this year. I have been feeding to keep them visiting me and was delighted to see a spotted woodpecker briefly visit the peanuts in the front garden. I have also had a sparrowhawk visit a few times last summer, he even ventured into my kitchen on one occasion and I had to open the window he was frantically trying to go through.

Just some of the avian visitors over the last few days.
